Sick of being sick again

Just realised it’s been nearly a month since I posted something other than a gif so I thought I would try to get back into the habit of writing regularly.

About three months ago I had the most annoying cough I couldn’t kick. It stuck with me for probably 3 weeks, and for two of those weeks it seemed like it was never going to improve. Of course it finally,  did but those three weeks felt like it was going to stay with me for the rest of my life.

Fast forward to this week and I’ve again been struck down with the flu, feeling horribly sick with a cough that feels like it will be with me forever. Everyone keeps telling me to get some rest, but that’s a bit challenging when you’re having fits of coughing every five minutes.

The interesting thing to me is that for the majority of my life I would only end up with a cough at the end of a cold or flu, and maybe for one or two days at most. I’d always end up with a terrible blocked nose and uncontrollable sneezing attacks. Yet this year I’ve had two bouts severe coughing within three months. I’m lucky enough to have been able to work from home and it hasn’t disrupted my life that significantly.

I know your body changes as you age, but I’m really not down with this particular change. Surely I can trade it for more ear hair or something similar?
